According to Rolling Stone magazine, 42% of American believe congressman chosen at random from the phone book would do a better job than those we elect into office. I found that really funny. If almost half our country feels that way, maybe we should give it a try!
Time magazine cited a Pew study stating that a mere 29% of Americans believe news organizations get the facts right. That means an overwhelming 71% of us don’t believe, or are at least skeptical, of the news we continue to watch/read. Doesn’t that mean that we are essentially supporting the people/organizations we feel are deceiving us?

According to Time magazine, Indonesia has just passed a series of new “punishments”. Adulterers will now suffer “death by stoning”. I know that cheating on your partner isn’t morally responsible. But death by stoning? Can you imagine if we passed a law like that in the U.S.? Half of our population would be put the death within a year!
Also, does there have to be some sort of proof? Pictures? Video tape? If you meet an old friend for lunch, who happens to be of the opposite sex, will you be accused of adultery?
I just can’t get past the death by stoning thing. What would it be like to be strapped to a spot and have people throwing large rocks at you until you die? That’s like a step back into the Middle Ages.
