Spotlight on Sunset Reads: DAMIAN & LAYLA by D.C. Triana

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Suspense
Date Published: 12/26/2016

One year.

It’s been one year since Agent Damian Trent left for Washington without a word.

One year since he’s seen her beautiful face.

One year since he’s heard his name on her lips.

He’s been recently called back to New York City on assignment, to catch a criminal who’s trying to infiltrate Sunset Reads. The last thing he expects is to work side by side with the woman he turned his back on.z
Having her close is an unwanted distraction that he’s more than willing to ignore, if only she wasn’t so damn tempting.

Everything seems under control, until a night of feverish passion has him abandoning all thoughts of reason. Now, he will do everything in his power to get her back, and even more so to protect her.

Layla Reece wants nothing to do with the man who left her a year ago.

The man who took her heart with him, leaving her broken.

After a year of trying to forget Damian Trent, she is finally ready to move on.

But trying to forget him becomes a tedious task when he suddenly reappears in her life.

Although she fights to stay away, his magnetism is too strong and she finds herself giving into the deep timbre of his voice, and the strength and safety of his arms.

Staying away from Damian turns out to be futile, especially when his kisses consume her and his heart shatters the walls she spent so much time building.

Finding herself in danger, she now has to turn to the only man she trusts to keep her safe, but can she trust him enough to give him her heart once again?

Top Ten Favorite Books & Why

Guest Post by D.C. Triana

To be honest, there’s so many wonderful books out there that it was hard for me to pinpoint ten. So, I went back to the ones I have re-read several times over the years and that have stayed with me all this time. These ten were my intro to romance, horror, and beyond. Here goes:

1. Jane Austen- Pride & Prejudice

Mr. Darcy, need I say more. A wonderful love story, beautifully descriptive settings, and being transported into late eighteenth century Britain where appearances mean everything. It is a classic and why I love romance so much.

2. William Shakespeare- A Midsummer Night’s Dream

So, why not Romeo & Juliet? Because a Midsummer Night’s Dream is under rated. One of my first romantic comedies it’s all about the troubles of love. I mean what a trip. Two men in love with the same woman, yet there’s a fourth running about trying to get the attention of one of those men. Hilarious confusion ensues until cupid comes along. Perfection.

3. Susan Elizabeth Phillips- It Had To Be You

It starts out the Chicago Stars series, one of the best Contemporary Romances of its time. Romance, football, and a very sexy all- American jock…you can’t go wrong with Ms. Phillips.

4. Stephanie Laurens- A Rake’s Vow

The start of the famous Cynster family, and my intro to Historical Romance. This one touches dear to my heart and Stephanie is one of my favorite authors. These steamy reads are so worth every second.

5. Judith McNaught- Whitney, My Love

Because it made me cry, it made me laugh, and it made me fall in love with Clayton Westmoreland over and over again.

6. Leigh Greenwood- Jake (The Cowboys Series)

Sexy cowboys, strong women, and Wild West enemies and heroes, I mean Leigh Greenwood outdid himself with this one. I have the whole series including the Seven Brides series that follows.

7. Laurell K Hamilton- Anita Blake’s Blue Moon

This is my favorite book in her Anita Blake series. Why? Because it’s about my favorite Werewolf- Richard. Blue Moon is his story and it’s my favorite- I think I’ve read it three times already. If you don’t know who Anita Blake is, then you should really look into this one.

8. John Saul- The Second Child

Now this is horror at its best. An abused child, a murder, and a haunting. It kept me biting my nails the entire time. Such a great read- John Saul is one of the best horror authors out there.

9. Lauren Blakely- Mister O

Now, I love anything Ms. Blakely writes, but Mister O was oh so good. It’s one of my favorites in her abundantly hot and sexy stories. Nick Hammer is a gorgeous nerd and my complete ideal man. Add in some of the hottest dirty talking you’ll ever hear and I think I’m going to go read it again.

10. Jade West – Dirty Bad Wrong

A dominant named Masque who devours you in every sexual way possible. This book is intense, dirty, and so beyond what fifty shades didn’t show you. It definitely took me to places I’d never been and it was so worth the ride.
